Notified Body Increased Capacity (NoBoCap)

NoBoCap is an EU-funded project under the EU4Health Programme aimed at strengthening regulatory knowledge and capacity related to medical devices and in vitro diagnostics (IVDs) across Europe. The project is expected to have a significant and sustainable impact on Notified Bodies (NBs), Conformity Assessment Bodies (CABs), market operators, healthcare professionals, and ultimately patients, by supporting more efficient, transparent, and high-quality regulatory processes.

As a project partner, HBio supports the NoBoCap initiative by connecting Greek MedTech and health innovation stakeholders with training, tools and regulatory resources. HBio raises awareness of MDR and IVDR challenges and opportunities within the Greek life sciences ecosystem through targeted communication activities, events, and workshops, including the biannual HBio Forum. In parallel, HBio contributes to capacity building for startups, SMEs, and cluster members, helping them strengthen regulatory readiness and successfully navigate EU medical device and IVD regulatory requirements.

Development of a diagnostic ecosystem for detecting and monitoring emergency-prone pathogens across species, globally and in a unified way (UniHealth)

UniHealth is an EU-funded project developing point-of-care diagnostic technologies, including two portable devices and six molecular assays targeting human and animal pathogens. The project adopts a One Health approach, linking diagnostics across human, animal, and environmental health to strengthen pandemic preparedness and response.

HBio is a project partner in UniHealth and contributes by promoting and disseminating the project within the Greek and wider European innovation ecosystem. The project held its 1st annual meeting in Tunis on 7–8 January 2025, bringing partners together to review progress and coordinate next steps in diagnostics development and pandemic preparedness.

Catalysing the regional innovation capacity of the MEDIC NEST Digital Precision Medicine ecosystem and beyond (InnoMedCatalyst)

InnoMedCatalyst supports digital health innovation across Europe by strengthening regional innovation capacity, providing acceleration and mentorship to health-tech startups, and preparing investment-ready projects in precision and personalized medicine.

Through its participation in InnoMed Catalyst, HBio amplifies its mission to strengthen the Greek health innovation ecosystem, helping local companies and research groups access European support structures, best practices, and investment pathways in precision and personalized medicine.

Self-disinfecting, smart microfilms for healthcare & community acquired infections (SafeTouch)

SafeTouch is a collaborative Horizon Europe research and innovation programme developing smart, self-decontaminating microfilm technology (iSafeTouch (iST) technology) for high-touch surfaces in healthcare and public environments. The project integrates ultrafast thermal activation mechanisms to eliminate pathogens on contact without the use of chemicals and will pilot the technology in real-world operational settings.

HBio is a consortium partner in SafeTouch, contributing to dissemination, communication and stakeholder engagement activities. HBio also participated in the project’s official kick-off meeting in Athens on 13–14 May 2025.

Building Interregional Opportunities for Digital and Green innovation in Red Biotechnology and Pharmaceuticals (BIO-RED)

BIO-RED is a European Union–funded collaboration project that aims to strengthen innovation capacity across regions in red biotechnology (health and medical biotech) and pharmaceuticals. The project promotes interregional collaboration through thematic labs, staff exchanges, hackathons, and policy roundtables, facilitating knowledge sharing, policy alignment, and joint problem-solving. Through these activities, BIO-RED contributes to a more connected, resilient, and future-oriented European innovation ecosystem.

As a member of the BIO-RED consortium, HBio represents the Greek biotech ecosystem in this project. It contributes by helping to map, connect, and accelerate biotech innovation from Greece into broader European collaborative pathways — especially in areas where digital innovation and sustainability intersect with health and pharmaceutical development. Through BIO-RED, HBio helps Greek startups, research groups, and SMEs access European networks, best practices, capacity building and investment preparation within cutting-edge biotech sectors such as precision medicine and digital health.
