The Hellenic Biocluster (HBio) is the largest Life Sciences & Health Cluster in Greece, connecting industry and academia partners aiming to support innovative and impact science.

HBio has created a vibrant and growing Life Sciences ecosystem and constitutes a strong innovation process moderator by bringing expertise and building an innovation culture amongst partners. HBio visions to be the catalyst for market-creating innovation adding value to the performance of HBio members and Greece as a whole.   

The Greek Biotech ecosystem is evolving with a constantly upward trajectory towards a technologically driven economic development. HBio, as the only life sciences cluster in Greece, manages to develop and foster a strong and sustainable Life-Sciences & Health Cluster, in order to support innovative and impact science, assist in industry growth and increase the HBio members’ global competitiveness leading to the economy boost, while delivering real solutions to the society.  

 

Mission 

  • Strengthening the Life Sciences ecosystem through a series of business development, capacity building and policy making activities and services, supporting the Biotech ecosystem growth and contributing to large-scale, sustainable impact.
  • Supporting companies and research organizations by strengthening their export orientation and international business development, as well as to encouraging innovation in the healthcare sector.
  • Adding value to the health innovation ecosystem with the development of its members’ competencies and increased transfer of knowledge.
  • Organizing missions to international exhibitions, where HBio members have the opportunity to hold business meetings, expand their networks, promote their products and services and initiate collaborations with important stakeholders.   
  • Facilitating the transformation of scientific and technological knowledge into business ideas and offering services such as assistance with patents and intellectual property (copyrights, digital content, etc) in collaboration with the University technology transfer offices (TTOs). 25% of HBio's members come from Greek institutions of higher education and Research Centers, where HBio, in collaboration with TTOs, works for the proper exploitation of scientific and technological results by creating successful spin-offs and startups.

  • Translating Science Excellence into Growth: fostering breakthrough technology and knowledge, while supporting sector growth by capacity building. 
  • Having a global presence: delivering connectivity to the global biotechnology ecosystem, as well as accessing new markets for Greek innovative companies. 
  • Promoting the values of HBio members to the national authorities: promoting issues resolution regarding the legal/ regulatory framework related to R&D and business activities in the fields of biotechnology, biomedicine and more broadly Life Sciences.
